Tristan's 1st Birthday Party: "Duck Duck" & "Bug Bug" Theme

Tristan's 1st Bday Party - The duck & bug theme was an homage to his two favorite stuffed animal toys at the time: "Duck Duck" and "Bug Bug"

Halloween

Kelan's Halloween Waste Management trash truck costume made by his very creative Uncle George - there are lights on the front and the top part beeps with a trash truck sound when you lift it up

Tristan's Amtrak Halloween costume created by his Uncle George.

No, it's not a typo - since Tristan's nickname is "TT", Uncle George named the costume after him "Am'tt'rak"
The train number 1029 is for Tristan's birthday (10/29)

railroad crossing costume
*Not the best picture, but all of the lights on the costume worked and when Kelan raised his left arm, an authentic "ding-ding" railroad crossing noise sounded.
*I used white foam board to make the railroad crossing and black letters from Office Depot.
*I used velcro to attached the railroad crossing sign and large bicycle reflector to a black baseball cap
*The black circles were made from craft foam, and I hot-glued red blinking bicycle lights to the foam. I attached them to the gray t-shirt using velcro
*The red and white railroad crossing bar was made from white foam board, red duct tape, and 6 rectangular red blinking bicycle lights.
*I attached the crossing bar using alot of velcro.
*When he wore the costume, I turned the lights on the black foam on at different times so that they were not blinking at the same time (more like a real railroad crossing). I did the same thing with the lights on the crossing bar.

School Parties

Cupcakes for the end of the school year party
*I used white frosting and mixed in natural blue food dye,  and teddy grahams pushed into gummy lifesavers

 beach cupcakes
*After frosting the cupcakes with white frosting, I carefully dipped them into very finely crushed graham crackers (I placed them in a large ziplock and used a rolling pin)
*I used fruit roll-ups for the blankets and placed the teddy grahams on top
*I made the drink umbrellas using a free template from marthastewart.com, then glued toothpicks through the top of the umbrellas (I cut the very tops of the toothpicks with scissors to get rid of the sharp point because I was worried about the kids poking themselves)
